Baron in the Ancient Greek Writing Instruction chapter argues that it is important to note how language communication has evolved into how it is perceived and used today. I agree with this point because I found it interesting that many Greek philosophers believed written communication would diminish one's brain power as opposed to memorizing arguments and presenting them orally. However, when other people such as Aristotle and Isocrates started to realize that writing allowed people to keep a permanent. trustworthy record of information and introduced the ideas of rhetoric, writing became more dominant than oral communication. Also with new inventions such as the printing press, typewriter, and computers replacing handwritten works, this sort of took away the individuality of the writing and placed more focus on impacting a bigger audience. For example, the tide website referenced in the reading is a good example of how it provides both an information center for consumers and is also versatile in that it acts like an online marketplace accessible to anyone with a computer. In Berger's video, the idea of authenticity and stillness affecting meaning and significance of a work of art is something that is relevant in today's world. For example, Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings such as "The Virgin of the Rocks" have been reproduced through the use of digital media for the convenience of the audience so that they don't have to visit the place where the original painting is located, but viewing it in its original form in person gives more meaning delivered to the painting and leaves the viewer with a more satisfied feeling.

This is an effective poster advertising the adidas brand employing both visual and written modes of communication. The choice of white lowercase letters describes the essence of the background picture and emphasizes that Caroline is a strong individual, representative of the adidas brand itself. The background picture of Caroline shows the pinnacle of human athleticism as Caroline Woz is a rank1 tennis player. Her expression along with the white clothing exudes a sense of confidence that the brand is trying to portray. Berger's ideas of silence and isolation can be applied to this poster as Caroline is isolated without any of the background figures showing and acts as the subject of the painting. Simply staring at the poster makes the viewer almost absorb Caroline's confidence shown with the fist clenching. This contributes positively to the overall brand marketing for Adidas making the brand more likely to be respected.
