Authorship is the idea that anyone on the web can post and publicize anything they please for sharing purposes and labeling someone as an author assigns credibility or blame to a person if what they write is correct or not. However people who write anonymously on wikipedia I believe are not authors because they do not publicly reveal their names even though they write content for the purpose of sharing the information with anyone with a computer. I also believe wikipedia has made the internet too public in that anyone can write whatever they please and even though there are people who correct the mistakes, inevitably there will always be at least a couple of mistakes that change the meaning of the information, and thus the credibility of the internet. An author is anyone who produces something written for the purpose of sharing with others. Labeling someone as an author has the implication that the person wishes to share what he/she has written with the public whether its for entertainment, education, or an opinion on a certain topic. One question that came to mind when I was reading the "Everyone is a Author " section is that when were the blogs "dragged to the courts" as mentioned? Also do teenagers or others who writen blogs with poor English writing convention count as authors? The document on public displays of connection argues that sites such as Linkedin are meant to be used as a way to expand one's network. People in today's age want to establish what is called a "reputation" and I agree with this fact because that is what going to school and working in jobs are for. Some questions that came to mind while reading are: What is the evidence that suggests that typing on a computer is worse than hand writing something in terms of retention? And did the production and sales of actual books decline significantly in the computer digital age? The readings were objective in that they did not criticize the constant use of computers in today's age, but rather discussed the positive and negative aspects of the technology. For example, I agree with the fact that typing keystrokes is not as effective for retention as hand writing it because people don't need to think that much about what they type. There is a backspace button that simply removes whatever we don't want to write, but with pencil and paper, or even pen, the mistakes are physically harder to remove, and thus one must put more thought into what they communicate on paper. Reflection             Our research question was “how did television broadcasts during the Cold War shape the American public’s perspective and spread anti-communist ideals?”. We chose this question because we wanted to understand the behavior of the television network space when it was young. Today, the television network industry is one that continues to grow and it differed greatly from what it used to be in the 1950s. As researchers, we wanted to understand the reason for these differences. After doing some initial research on propaganda, we felt that looking at propaganda of posters or early radio would not be interesting to research. We felt that researching a more multimodal form of technology that exploded in the market would be more insightful. For the podcast assignment, I am interested in doing either an interview or an advertisement. I am leaning more towards an interview because I have never conducted one before so it would be exciting to be on the other side of the chair giving the questions rather than answering them. When I think about interviews I think about evaluation ones conducting by companies when they screen job applicants or college interviews. Those google coding interviews come to mind where they evaluate the applicant's knowledge of computer science and using problem solving skills to find the most efficient solution to a problem. Or my own college interview where I was asked about my activities and academics. But in the political world, interviews are a way for journalists to gain information from the perspective of the person he is interviewing.
